Bon Nadal

   Una bonica manera de felicitar el Nadal és amb una cançó. Quan vaig escoltar per primera vegada el CD Aire lliure de La  Porta dels Somnis, hi vaig trobar una cançó magnífica per una ocasió com aquesta: El pack dels mil petons. Però, ara fa uns dies, vaig tornar a veure el video que va penjar La Oreja de Van Gogh el Nadal de l'any passat. Així que m'he decantat per aquesta última: tradicional, nadalenca i interpretada per una veu preciosa.

   Ahir, escoltant una cançó preciosa d'Atomic Kitten, The last goodbye, vaig fixar-me en una frase: Aim high, shoot low. Vaig posar-la al Google i resulta que és el títol d'una cançó dels Yes, anterior a aquesta. Literalment, vol dir "ànims amunt, dispara o apunta avall". O sigui, vindria a donar un consell: estigues animat sempre, ja que aquesta és la manera d'aconseguir els teus somnis, però, alhora, apunta baix quan vulguis fer alguna cosa nova i vés amb peus de plom.

Quan "t'estimo" passa de ser bonic a ser cursi

 

La millor manera de fer-li saber a una persona que sentim alguna cosa per ella és, sens dubte, amb un "t'estimo" que surti directament del cor. Però hi ha gent que considera que aquestes coses són cursis (el mot cursi vol dir "mancat de l'elegància o finor que vol aparentar", segons el DCVB, però actualment està prenent un nou significat, com si fos un excès de romanticisme fins al punt d'enfalagar).

    Realment és cursi? Jo crec que no, ans el contrari. Com podríem expressar un sentiment així sense recòrrer a aquest verb tan bonic? Amb fets? És una bona opció, però potser millor deixar les coses clares amb paraules, no? De fet, si tenim el llenguatge és per una qüestió de precisió. Ens cal deixar clar el missatge que volem comunicar. Doncs, què millor que dir "t'estimo" quan ho sentim? Tampoc es tracta d'usar-lo amb excès, com fan alguns...

    L'altre dia, estava mirant una sèrie (Como conocí a vuestra madre) i, precisament, hi havia un capítol que parlava d'això: el moment just en què s'ha de dir. Al principi del capítol, el protagonista ens diu que primer ho has de sentir, llavors et passes uns dies buscant la manera i el moment, després et mors de ganes de dir-ho i ho tens a la punta de la llengua i, finalment, arriba un moment en què ho deixes anar. Potser, fins i tot, el "t'estimo" va acompanyat d'unes llàgrimes. Bonic o cursi? Sens dubte, obto per bonic. 

    Si, a més, és en català, ja n'hi ha per morir allà mateix! Deixant a part que crec que el català és una llengua preciosa, el verb "estimar" té una etimologia ben poc cursi. Prové del llatí aestīmare, que vol dir posar preu a alguna cosa (de fet, aquest significat encara el conservem quan diem que fem una estimació o un càlcul estimat). Així, quan en català estimem, estem posant un preu elevat a una persona, mentre que en altres llengües romàniques diuen "te quiero" o "te amo" (en castellà), "ti amo" (en italià) o "je t'aime" (en francès). Amo era el verb llatí que expressava estimació cap a una persona, però en català no s'ha mantingut. I, en castellà, també usen el "querer", que sona (o almenys a mi em sona) molt possessiu. 

    Així que, per què no estimar en català?
